I know – “broccoli sprouts” sound gross. I used to think so, too…until I tried them in a sandwich.
You see, I bring lunch to work pretty much every single day. Nine times out of ten, my lunch is a sandwich, with chips and a pickle on the side. Get crazy, right? But my lunch isn’t as routine as it sounds – I love mixing up what’s inside my sandwiches, and I even mix up the bread that I use fairly frequently (I’m currently on a wrap kick right now. Again...get crazy).
Apparently, broccoli sprouts are also healthy for you: According to sproutpeople.com, broccoli sprouts contain 50 times more antioxidants than broccoli heads. Boo-yah.
Oh, and if you do decide to use broccoli sprouts in your next sandwich, hummus also makes a killer sandwich condiment. Just sayin’.
Do you bring lunch to work everyday, or are you a take-out person?
Michelle - those look so delicious! I mostly feed at night but on the rare occasions I take lunch, it is from one of the food trucks on Dewey Square. I'm partial to the sandwiches from Bon Me, especially the tofu and mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteI still need to try Bon Me - have heard a lot of great things about them!
DeleteI have never tried these but like sprouts in general so I will have to give these a go!
ReplyDeletesince I moved closer to work, I can go home for lunch and usually eat leftovers. I could definitely try some broccoli sprouts on my next sandwich.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Let me know if you give them a try.
DeleteI've been buying broccoli sprouts lately too - they're really good on breakfast egg sandwiches!
ReplyDeleteZach eats an egg sandwich with broccoli sprouts every morning! I'll have to try that....
DeleteInteresting! I've never been a big sprouts person because they're tough to clean and I have weird OCD but I really want to try these! Do they come cleaned? Haha I'm a weirdo!

Hey Sues! You don't need to wash these store-bought ones...at least, I never have and I'm still here! ;)
DeleteVery interesting. I love a little fresh crunch in a sandwich. At this job, there's no need to bring lunch because there's always something being tested in the kitchen to snack on, but I always used to bring lunch... and would only splurge and go out once a week or every two weeks.
